IMPLEMENTATION OF PBL APPROACH WITH TPS SETTING TO ENHANCE MATHEMATICAL PROBLEM SOLVING AND SELF-REGULATION

This study aims to improve students' mathematical problem solving ability and self-regulation through the application of Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach with Think-Pair-Share (TPS) cooperative arrangement in class VIII F students of SMP Negeri 1 Kraksaan. This research was conducted in the form of Classroom Action Research (PTK) with a mixed methods approach. In cycle I, problem solving ability increased to 66.67% and self-regulation reached 69.23%, both in the medium category. In cycle II, there was a further improvement with 90.00% of students achieving mastery in problem solving and 73.53% of students showing self-regulation in the high category. This had a direct impact on increasing students' motivation, self-confidence, self-regulation, and mathematical problem solving ability. Thus, it can be concluded that the PBL approach in a TPS-type cooperative setting is an effective strategy to improve the quality of students' mathematics learning process and outcomes
